X-Men: Days of Future Past is turning into a thoroughly unconventional franchise effort, a sequel to a prequel that wraps itself around the movies getting prequelized in the first place.  Not only is the text itself turning into an X-pretzel, but Bryan Singer, the director of X-Men and X2, is once again directing the mutant mayhem. 

Singer's now talking about just how the time travel story will work in X-Men: Days of Future Past and how it will square the often disparate continuities presented by the series so far.

The 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards went down at the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles last night.

Daniel Day-Lewis and Jennifer Lawrence won the big theatrical acting awards on account of their respective performances in Steven Spielberg's Lincoln and David O. Russell's Silver Linings Playbook.  Both are also nominated for Academy Awards this year.  Day-Lewis has one that big award twice before, and Lawrence has been nominated once previously for her outstanding performance in Winter's Bone.

We've spent the last month or so offhandedly wondering which actors from the established X-Men franchise would reprise their familiar roles in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

And now we know.  Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, and Ellen Page will once again play Rogue, Iceman, and Kitty Pryde, respectively.

Three more official images from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire have trickled online.  While this trio of pictures contains nary a glimpse at Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark, Gale Hawthorne, or even Finnick Odair.  Instead, these images show off several returning characters, as well as a first look at a pivotal new player, and an explanation from the filmmakers as to the omission of some important figures from the novel by Suzanne Collins.

Who’s in? Who’s out? The Oscar nominees have now been announced and while the Academy did get a lot right, there were also some glaring omissions. The 3 biggest surprises: No Ben Affleck for Best Director. No John Hawkes for Best Actor. No Leonardo DiCaprio for Best Supporting Actor. What’s so shocking about those “snubs”- and every year there are the inevitable few- is that I would argue that all 3 of them could have WON the Oscar had they been nominated. Following yesterday's reveal of the first official image from this year's sequel The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, we have two more new Lionsgate-approved pictures from the film featuring two major characters at whom we didn't get so much as a peek yesterday.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced the full list of nominees for the 2013 Golden Globe Awards. 

Though the organization and the award have had their issues with legitimacy, the 70th Annual Golden Globes will once again uphold their status as a solid warm up for the Academy Awards.  This is principally because, regardless of who wins or the legitimacy of the award, it's fun to see extraordinarily pretty people dress up.
